My 8 week old daughter has a duplex rt kidney with 2 ureters. One is dilated and drains poorly leading to recurrent uti. She recently required drainage of pus from the kidney and currently has a nephrostomy tube in situ. A VUCG and a renal scan showed reduced function in the upper pole of the rt kidney but no reflux. We have been advised that she have a temporary ureterostomy for 12 months then surgery. We are concerned that an opening draining into her diaper will lead to an increased risk of infection. We will be talking to the surgeon in a few days but want to gather as much info as possible first. Thanks for your advice.
