Child Has Fever Since 3 Days, Advised Permol, Rashes Seen On Stomach. Should Be Concerned ?

Hi
My son who is 3.5 years had fever for 3 days but has been active for the last day or so. We have been to the doctors and he has no infection. They advised its a virus and to carry on with Permol as required. Just today I did notice sme rash on his stomach. Is this something to be concerned of .
Thanks

Pediatrician 's  Response

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

The rash on his stomach requires to be examined.

Does he have any other associated problem along with fever?

Is there any history of cough or sore throat or crying while passing urine or increased frequency of urination or cold etc?

If the fever persists further examination and investigations may be required which should include CBC, Urine examination, peripheral smear for malarial parasite, widal, blood culture, etc.
Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

This is looking like a viral fever.

Continue paracetamol syrup in prescribed dose for fever.

Rash is seen in viral fevers and nothing to worry as this will subside within 3 to 5 days.

If there is itching associated, you can apply calamine lotion externally over the rash.

Monitor his activity, temperature, and hydration status.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Pediatrician Dr. Emmette Clark's  Response
Actually the rash now explains the fever and what his illness is. He had roseola, a viral infection that always has fever, sometime high, for 48-72 hours and then the fever disappears and a rash appears.

he is no longer contagious and should feel much better now that the fever is gone.
