Child Has Intermittent Fever, Congestion, Pain. Done Blood Test. History Of Sinus Infection, Ear Infection

My son has been getting a fever between 103-105 about every two to three months ( since last October) along with congestion and aches and pains. I finally took him in to have some blood work done yesterday and am waiting for the results. Any idea as to what may be causing this? He has been treated for sinus infections twice and has an ear infection right now. He is 15 years old.

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I can understand your concern. However it is very difficult to provide you with a possible cause for the fever without a clinical examination.

By the description provided by you it appears that your son is having an acute on chronic upper respiratory tract infection which is giving rise to the high grade fever. Let us review the blood reports and, if required, he may have to get a MRI done to know the status of his nasal sinuses which may be harbouring the infection.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.

Regards,
