What Causes Swelling Behind The Ear?

I have this swelling behind my ear. It s painful. I went to the doctor. He gave me some antibiotics and anti-inflamatory medication. It is gone in 3 days. I have noticed that this comes back very often. Like once a month or 2 months once. Each time it is a week before my period. I do not want to keep on taking antibiotics. Is there something wrong with me?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms could be suggestive of inflammatory lymph nodes, possibly related to an inner ear infection. For this reason, I recommend consulting with an ENT specialist for a physical exam and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR).

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
