Should i take supplement as well as im still breastfeeding? my son love sour milk and as im searching i can see that cow milk is not good, should i stop giving him sour milk? is this a permanent condition? thank you!!
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Breast milk is the best source of iron and sufficient iron will be transferred to the child eventhough mother has low iron stores through selective secretion of iron into milk.
Cow milk is a poor source of iron and excessive consumption of cow milk leads to iron deficiency anemia.
Iron deficiency anemia can be treated by giving therapeutic iron syrup preparations for 1 to 3 months.
You can give iron rich foods like green leafy vegetables, raagi, jaggery as a food supplementation in addition to iron treatment.
Deworming should be done if there are signs of worm infestation or as a routine if not done previously.
It is not a permanent condition and it is treated easily.
Hope I have answered your query.
