Child Has Nappy Rash. Treatment For Yeast Infection?

my one year old baby girl is suffering from nappy rashes for last 15 days. I have tried all the nappy rash creams and kept him without diaper for several days but got no improvement. Someone told me it is yeast infection . If it is true then what is its treatment? I am living in Xi an, China. Please prescribe drug accordingly. Thanks

Thanks for the query.

Yes, it is possible that your child's nappy rash may be due to yeast infection. You will have to first wash the area well with plain water, dry it with a soft towel by patting and not rubbing. Then apply liberally antifungal ointments containing clotrimazole or miconazole all over the affected areas. After every urine or stool repeat the above steps. Anti fungal nappy rash creams have to be used for at least 1 week after rash clears to completely clear the yeast infection.

Once everything has been completely treated,follow the following steps to prevent further rash.

1. leave your child nappy free as much as possible..... allow the child to sleep on absorbent towel.

2. Use a good quality or change the company of your child's nappy.

3.use barrier creams containing zinc, available in supermarkets, to prevent further rash during every nappy change.

4.Change nappies frequently as your child is prone for rash.

5.start toilet training immediately.
