Child Has Patches Covered With White Flakes Over Scalp, Bleeding On Trying To Remove. What Could It Be?

My 7 year old daughter recently developed patches covered with white flakes over her scalp , it itches only sometimes but if I try to remove it, it starts blending. Our padiatritichen sad to use Head and Sholders and he was shore it is not psoriasis , I am really consern nothing is helping and months are goin by what could it be and is there help. For now I do not see it spreading !

Hi,
These scaly patches over scalp could be due to seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis or a fungal infection. The diagnosis could only be confirmed after a skin examination by a dermatologist.
However, in the meanwhile, you may use a ketoconazole tar based or ketoconazole salicylic acid based shampoo to clean her scalp every alternate days. Do not try to remove the scales as it would lead to raw oozing lesions.
