Child Has Plugged Salivary Duct Under Tongue, Rapidly Growing, Long, Pointed. Dentist?
I'm trying to figure out if I need to take my daughter to her dentist or a physician for a sudden growth as described below in this thread. Sounds like based on what I've read that she has a plugged salivary duct underneath her tongue, which grew very rapidly in a period of hours, as described below. It is long and pointed.

I read your problem,as you provided the detail it seems that your daughter is having ranula.
Ranula is a swelling of the salivary gland duct on the floor of the mouth underneath the tongue because of trauma/stone/blocked salivary duct.
Because of this saliva back up in to the gland and create a pressure results in to pain.
So i will suggest you please visit to and oral surgeon as soon as possible and get the thorough examination done and take a proper treatment.

Hello dear
Your information sounds to be incomplete as you have not mentioned about any pain or discomfort.Normally if any salivary duct is plugged it causes pain and balooning while having something sour like lemon juice.If it is like as i mentioned, then definately you sould consult a dentist regarding this.In the mean while apply some OTC available anaesthetic and antiseptic gel( dologel CT) over it three to four times daily. It will prevent any type of secondary infection.

Your clinical history suggest that the lesion on the floor of the mouth can be salivary gland swelling, cystic lesion known as ranulla it occurs due to blockage of salivary gland due to stone or any trauma.
Blockage of the salivary gland causes increase in pressure in the area resulting in increase in pressure.
I would suggest you to visit to an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and get the checkup done, exact diagnosis can be made on visual examination of the area.

The swelling underneath tongue may be due to obstruction of salivary duct.
Any obstruction /injury to the salivary duct can result in such swelling called ranula.
I would suggest you to get a thorough clinical check-up done by your dentist.
Get sialography done.
Meanwhile,maintain good oral health.

According to your history i suspect your daughter has developed lesion on the floor of the mouth which may be caused by obstuction of minor salivary glands or SUBLINGUAL glands .
Such cystic lesion is called RANULA.
It is a swelling of the salivary gland duct on the floor of the mouth underneath the tongue because of trauma,stone,blocked salivary duct.
So i will suggest you please visit to and oral surgeon as soon as possible and get the thorough examination done and take a proper treatment.

Hi the problem you have mentioned seems to be an enlarged salivary gland due to the obstruction of an calculi in the gland or salivary duct. You should meet an oral surgeon who would advise an Occlusal radiograph to determine if there is any calculi in the duct or gland. Further an USG of the gland can be done to determine if there is any obstruction in the gland.
