Child Has Problem In Leg While Waking. Took Macalvit Syrup, Cholecalciferol And Vit. Is It Too Much Medication?
Hi, my 14 months old son walks with his leg apart. I dont know if he is comfortable with the nappy. I give him 2 ml macalvit syrup of calcium and cholecalciferol and also 0.5 ml of vit d syrup from ostelin. I am jus concerned if I am giving him too much?I have got an apptment with the child specialist dr on 1st july. I am worried if it is too long to wait.pls suggest abt the medicines.
Hi dear, Thanks for your query. Macalvit has minimal cholecalciferol. Hence can be given. But ostelin has 1000 IU in 0.5 ml which is above the normal daily requirement of 400 IU per day. Hence should not be given unless deficiency of vit D has already been established. So if you are self medicating then please stop ostelin as it should not be given without establishing vitamin D deficiency state. You can consult with your dr and then start if needed. There needs to be no hurry in treating as it is not a serious problem. You can always wait for a month till july.
Take care
