Child Has Red Spot On Face, Bleeds When Scratched. Suggestions?
My 2 year old granddaughter has a red spot on her face, she has had a small patch of a few spots most of which have almost cleared up after a long time but she keeps scratching the one that is left and it bleeds which is making it worse. We stop her scratching when with her but she goes to day nursery and scratches in her sleep. We would appreciate your advice please. Gillian Horner

With the limited information available it seems your grand daughter has facial eczema ,an chronic inflammatory condition characterised by patches of dry & itchy skin.
Kindly get her checked by your pediatrician to confirm the diagnosis.
In the meantime apply vaseline several times a day each time after dabbing the area with clean wet towel .
For control of itching you can try atarax syp in appropriate doses.
