Child Has Sinus Congestion, Fever, Soft Stool, Facial Rash. Common Cold?

Hello my 29 month old daughter has sinus congestion (not able to breastfeed), fever, soft stool, facial rash one side of the face only...it appears on and off and noticed she has little bumps on the back. Her 2 back molars also appears to be ready to break through. is this a common cold? or perhaps something else. This is the first time since birth she is actually ill. Please advise.

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

It is looking like a viral fever with features of upper respiratory tract infection.

You can give Tylenol syrup in prescribed dose for fever.

For rash, apply calamine lotion externally for soothing effect.

Consult the pediatrician for physical examination to look for any focus of bacterial infection in the throat which will require antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Hi,

Thanks for your query to Health Care Magic

Yes, you are right it is time for your baby to develop second molar teeth as they usually appear between 20 -30 months of age but it is unlikely that her fever and rash is because of dentition.

It seems she has develop some kind of infection most probably of viral origin.

You can give her anti-pyretic like paracetamol for fever but better get her evaluated by pediatrician for better care.

Hope that answers your query.

Wishing your baby a quick recovery.

Take Care :)
