Pediatrician, Neonatology 's  Response
Hi,
my first thought is may be your child is suffering from a condition called ciliary dyskinesia. This can affect respiratory tract and other secretions.
The cilia do not function well in these patients and is diagnosed by ciliary studies by electron microscopy. Also his kidneys should be checked as he had spontaneous pneumothorax at birth!
Good luck God bless Dr Uma
