Child Having Fever, Pus Cells Found In Urinalysis. Kidney Stones Or UTI?
Hi! My daughter who s 6 years old, in her urine test report we ve found pus cells in the range of 20-40. She was down with high fever for 5-6 days last week and during her first urine examination there were pus cells in the range of 5-10 and also some calcium oxalate stones were visible (as per the report) as well as some white blood cells were also seen. Now after 7-8 days, i.e today we got her tested again for urine analysis and found that the pus cells are now ranging from 20-40. what should be the cause of her pus cells, kidney stones or some UTI . Please advise. Regards
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
This is suggestive of UTI and she needs to give a mid stream urine sample for culture test.
Till the results are out, she needs empirical antibiotics and then definitive antibiotics for a cure.
If UTI is repeated, then she needs detailed evaluation of the urinary tract to look for block or stones.
Wishing her best health
