Child Having Intermittent Chest Pains. ECG Shows Irregular Heartbeats. Doctor Says The Results Could Be Wrong. Opinion?

My son recently had an ECG as he was having chest pains on and off. It showed his heartbeat was 'slightly' irregular. He has been refered to a specialist. When the go rang with results she said it could b nothing as the leads could b simply in the wrong place due to his size (he is 11). Since this the pains are worse and more frequent. His specialist appointment is not for 3 weeks. I worry that he should not be taking part in sports such as football but also don't want to stop him as go said it may be nothing. What do you advise, and could the results be wrong? This seems highly unlikely to me?

There are times when ECG leads have been placed wrong which gives an erroneous reading of the ECG.

Also there are multiple reasons for chest pains other than those related to the heart especially at this age group.

But since the frequency of his chest pains is increasing and you have an ECG which shows probable irregular heartbeats. Only after he has been examined and his ECG read by the specialist, can there be a definite reason as to the cause of his chest pain.

Until then the best and safest thing for him would be to avoid sports at this point of time until he is completely cleared by his specialist.
