Child Having Lump On Her Calf Muscle, Leg Swollen, No Pain. What To Do?

My daughter has a 1 1/2 inch lump on her calf muscle . It has been there for 2 1/2 weeks. It did hurt after a coach strongly massaged it and her leg was swollen and she could not walk on it for 2-3 days after the massage. Now the lump is still there. The swelling is gone but she has no pain. We have been to doctor and they don t seem concerned. They said to ice it and wear a compression sock.

Was there any history of trauma?

Some times trauma causes hematoma in muscle leading to a lump.

Some cysts also present like lumps on calf muscle.

I suggest to go for ultrasound of the lump to know the nature of the swelling.
Avoid massaging.

If there is pain you can give ibuprofen in prescribed dose.

Consult your pediatrician for examination and scanning followed by appropriate intervention.
