Hi there,
Thank you for choosing healthcaremagic.
Would be glad to help you.
You have mentioned that your daughter's labia is very red and she complains of intense itching. She also has a problem with eczema.
There is a possibility that the redness is due to a candidal infection or it maybe a bacterial
superinfection after eczema.
I would suggest she be seen by her
pediatrician or a
dermatologist and based on their examination they will recommend
nystatin ointment or creme if she has a candidal infection for 14 days or till the rash goes away whichever is later or she will need antibiotics alongwith the treatment of her eczema in the thigh area.
Once her infection has resolved, then for control of her eczema she will need to be treated with steroid
ointments like
desonide ointment for not more than 7-10 days at a stretch. Avoid use on the face and the genital area. And alongwith that she will need lots of hydrating lotions like vaseline or oatmeal based lotions or ointments, cerave has good options for extreme
dry skin. (Word of caution: donot use the ones containing hyaluronidase; that is not meant for a child's skin).
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
Regards,
Dr. Sumeet.
