Child Having Reddish Painful Blisters On The Penis. History Of Food And Seasonal Allergies

Hi. My 9 year old son just woke in the middle of the Night with shiny blisters on the shaft of his penis . It s also red And painful. I will take him to a doctor in the morning. Any ideas. He s been in and out of pools/swimming Facilities and also has food/ seasonal allergies And sensitive skin (irish decent) Thank you

The rashes can be due to various reasons

1. Pyoderma: that is infections especially if the swimming facilities are not hygienic
2. Allergic: try to get him cotton underpants. Synthetic fibres usually cause more reactions
3. Insect bite: is a very common cause of such rashes

Consult a pediatric surgeon. If it is infectious he may require a course of antibiotics. Else for the other two conditions he may do well with a dose or two of anti-allergic drugs
