Child Having Severe Neck And Back Pain. X-ray Showed Reversal The Reversal Of Normal Cervical Lordosis. What Does This Mean?
Hi There I have a 15 year old son who has been having extrememly severe neck and back pain. He had an xray done and the xray showed slight reversal of the normal cervical lordosis and mild rotation to the left. What could this mean and also I should let you know my son also has a rotation of his lowere brain stem. could these 2 abnormailities be connected we are hoping to see a ortho tomorrow about this but I am quite anxious
Hello, Thanks for writing in. Your child having severe neck pain and reversal of cervical lordosis could mean that on X ray the cervical spine appears straightened due to muscle spasm. I am not able to completely comprehend what you mean by the rotation of his lower brain stem. Do you mean that your son have a previous medical condition requiring brain stem imaging? In that context meeting a neurosurgeon would be more appropriate for brain stem problems. If its only the cervical reversal of lordosis then meeting the orthopedic surgeon would be sufficient. Hope this helps.
