Child Having Viral Fever After Immunization. Why He Is In Severe Pain?

My 17 month old has been sick since his last round of immunizations a week before Thanksgiving. Since then he has only been well for a day or two here and there, and the longest stretch he was well for was 4 days. All we diagnosed as viral and not treated with any medication. On Christmas eve he hit his teeth. He cried, but bleeding stopped and he seemed fine. 24 hours later he came down with fever (101-102.8), which went away 2 days later, but he was still holding is face/jaw and crying in pain. Trip to clinic and nurse practitioner said upper respiratory virus (he has had a cold which seems to never go away) and that she felt teeth were not cause of pain/fever. Brought him to dentist, x-ray showed teeth fine. Following day I noticed one blister in back of mouth/throat on one side and thought HFMD? Spoke to nurse yesterday and she agreed. Starting to wonder if there isn't another problem though because it has been a week, he behaves as if in SEVERE pain (nurse said blisters from hfmd are not as painful as they look) and his breath is rancid. He is cutting molars, which I can account for some pain, but this child is in more pain than that. Should i bring him back in?

Hi and thanks for the query,
It is important to note that the principle behind vaccine use is that they do induce an immunological reaction, since the vaccine is usually a substance, out of the body. People do react differently and it happens that some people react excessively, as might have been the case with the child. It is appropriate for you to take the child to the pediatrician for a proper review and prescription of approapriate anti inflammatory agents and analgesics. Kind regards
