Child Hit Back Of Her Head, Sleepy, Indentation Felt. Check Up Required?
Hello, I'm worried about my niece. She's 22 months and she hit the back of her head and I'm worried.
I usually have her on my bed and what she does when she gets excited is she falls back on the bed. But she usually goes further and hits her head on the back board of the bed. But this time her bottle was placed by the back board and unknowingly she did what she usually does and fell backwards hitting her head, she hit the bottle and you could hear the impact it had on the back board. When I heard it happen I looked at her and her reaction was blank. I would say she was shocked but she didn't cry. I carried her and she was fine she spoke like her usual self but she looked sleepy. I carried her and she felt sluggish and just wanted to lay down, I felt the back of her head and I felt an indentation. I'm not sure if that was there before. I don't know if she was sleepy because of the hit or because this happened at night where it was time for her to sleep. I don't know what to do, is it serious? Should I go call a doctor?
hello dear, thanks for your query at HCM, i understand your concern regarding the child 1 child looks like to have small injury 2 if she had hard impact and any serious injury she would have altered sensorium, vomitings, seizures, drowsy, 3 take child to emergency if she has any above mentioned symptoms and get ct or mri scan done. 4 she might be feeling sleepy because of the regular sleeping time or may be because of small injury 5 observe the child if any suspicion consult doctor. regards.
