Child Is Under Weight. Had Diarrhea And Took Antibiotics. What To Do Now?
3.7 kg birth weight, exclusive b.f. till 3 months...(6.3kgs). then i started Nestle baby formula once a day(120 ml max) or no..sometimes. just 500 gms weight gain in 4th and 5th months. first time diarrhea when he completed 5 months..was on anti-bio....then again after a week it happened loose motion...stool report said mucus ++, pus 40-45, blood cells too..after doses for anti-bio it was normal now when he completed 6 months he is making green poops 6-7 times a day...i give hime rice cerelac, formula 120ml a day...n b.f. nothing else.. my ped told me to stop feeding him cerelac.. and also not dal pani..but still i have to give him. i started zinc powder suspension since 2 days. n he makes poop only once. what should i do now? is cerelac bad for babies? what should i do for more weight gain after 6 months.
The incidence of diarrhoea was because of probably the feeding technique you used i.e bottle feeds .It is known that bottle fed babies get infection because cleanliness issues.
At present since your baby is being weaned it would be best choice to give home prepared fresh baby food .Start with cereals then pulses, slowly add vegetable and lastly fruits .Cerelac is not bad but it is always best that the child gets used to traditional food habit rather then preserved monotonous baby food like cerelac.
Your doctor told you to avoid dal water because water has less calories .You should be giving proper mashed dal preparation or khichidi in liquid form which has more calories and fibre than simple water.
