Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi Dear,

Welcome to the platform of Health Care Magic

High grade fever off and on.First probable diagnosis usually is viral infection. Which can be simply treated with the drug you already mentioned.

But if the fever is not responding then we should investigate the child by fever pannel like CBC,ESR, CRP, Typhi dot test, Malaria antigen ,urine routine examinationand Blood culture.

Then he should be treated according to the investigation with relevant antibiotics and antipyretics as advised by the pediatrician concerned.

Hope the query is answered.

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

If the reports and symptoms suggestive of a bacterial infection, the child requires a course of antibiotic therapy in addition to antipyretic.

His throat, ear, and urine has t be examined to look for the focus of infection.

Give plenty of oral fluids to maintain hydration.

Consult the doctor for physical examination and for specific treatment.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

presence of fever for more than 3 days with poor appetite is an indication to go for investigation. what investigations you have done. generally CBC, urine routine, smear for malarial parasite is enough. if fever persisting go for blood culture and x ray chest. if u start ur child on any antibiotic it is better to do these investigations prior to starting antibiotic. but many times viral fever can present with same picture. as for as your child is concerned, u need not worry much. consult your primary pediatrician.
