Child Suffering With Recurring Hives Causing Severe Stress Due To Itching. Remedy?
my 3yr old son has been suffeing with hives since august 9th last year with only a few short periods of new ones developing. We have had various steroid creams and antihistamine medicines and are currently doing some elimination diets with him but are now really fed up with our GP and the fact that we are not getting any closer to them ending. We have two other children aged 6mths and 5 so sleep is quite crucial to daily function but we are getting less and less as he is up more and more at night gettting so stressed and aggetated wiht the itching. help please
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
The cause of Hives is allergic and the culprit of allergy may be external like pollen, animals, plants, fish, egg, oils and some nuts and internal like worm infestations.
Most of the times detecting the cause for allergy in a particular child is difficult and requires the making a diary of daily food, activities and correlating the symptom with them.
For itching you can use long acting antihistamines like fexofenadine after consulting your Pediatrician and applying calamine lotion.
Hope i have answered your query.
