Child Tongue Has Changed To Green. Doesn't Eat Or Sleep Much. Giving Gripe Water. Suggestions?
Hello, I am writing about a 7 week old baby whos tongue has turned green. She has been colicy as of late and has not slept as much or eaten as much as she used to prior to 6 weeks. She still eats, but less and more frequently. My wife and I had decided to switch her formula from Similac Sensitive to Gerber Good Start Protect and have been giving her gripe water made by Wellements Baby. We just started with gripe water a day ago and she has been introduced to the new formula over the last three days in a 1:3 ratio of new formula to the old formula. We used a cotton swab to swipe her tongue and the green residue came off the tongue and left a mark on the swab. The change in color is at the back of the tongue and she does not seem to show any signs difficulty in eating and swallowing or being in any sort of pain. What do you think could be causing this and is it enough to seek medical attention?
You are doing the right way of cleaning the tongue. There should not be anything to worry about but regular cleaning should take care of the tongue coating.
I suggest that you stick to one milk for the baby instead of changing the formula. Breast feeding is by far the best feeding for the baby.
Babies do not require gripe water.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
