Child Vomited, Dry Heaving. What Is Wrong?

My 4 year old vomited last night at about 8:30pm. Went to sleep about an hour after. No fever . Woke this morning and said he was going to vomit but didn t. Fell back asleep. Still no fever. Asked for pancakes(?!) and was dry heaving while preparing breakfast. Still no fever. He hasn t eaten anything since a very small amount of food at dinner last night and nothing since he vomited last night. He s drinking water in small doses. Do I need to take him to a walk in or hospital or just wait it out?

what is the color of the vomit like

is there any abdominal distension\

are there any signs of dehydration........ like dry tongue and moth, not passing urine, decreased skin tone etc

Hi,
Thank you for your query,
It seems your child is having gastritis due to which he is having nausea and vomitied once.
You can give one antiemetic like ondanstron in prescribed dosage to control the nausea and to stop vomitings.
Give sips of oral rehydration solutions like Pedialyte in sips to prevent dehydration.
Aftre half an hour of antiemetic administaration, you can try soft, bland diet.
Monitor his hydration.
Consult your Pediatrician for the assessment of the child and for treatment advise.
Hope I have answered your query.
