Child Wakes Up At Night, Becomes Cranky. Giving Colic Aid
Hi my son is 6 weeks old for the last few days he wakes up at 3 in the morning.and stays awake for the next 4-5 hrs.. For the initial time he seems happy and active bt slowly becomes cranky. No amount of soothing helps... He dozes off when carried in arms bt is instantly awake as soon as we lie him down. Please suggest... We are also giving him colic aid as he gets cramps at times
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Newborns usually wake up in the early morning and usually they will play and alert. During that time I advise you to interact with the child by smile, play, so that the kid will get soothing effect from mother. Try to adjust your timings as per the needs of newborn. If there is no response from any body during that time he may cry. Colic usually occurs in the evening and it can be relived by colic aid drops. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
Relax, there is nothing to worry. This behavior is commonly seen in infants and is mostly due to colic.which start at 4 to 6 weeks of age and can be there till 3 to 4 months of age.
Keep baby in prone position but baby should not be left alone. You can also gently massage his tummy in circular motion. Give him exclusive breast feeding and mother should avoid gas forming food items in her diet.
Observe his activity/feeding pattern .In case he is lethargic or is not taking adequate feeding I suggest you to get him examined by pediatrician.
