Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 8 year old daughter has had a fever off and on since Wednesday night. She doesn t seem to have any other symptoms other than her usual seasonal allergies. It has been anywhere from 99-103 degrees. Not sure how reliable our ear thermometer is though because it gives several different readings in a row. Should I be concerned?
If you are doubt about the ear thermometer, you can cross check the temperature with a conventional mercury thermometer.
If the fever is not coming down within 24 to 48 hours , consult your Pediatrician for the examination to look for any focus of infection and for basic evaluation.

Child With High Temperature. Need To Be Treated?
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Your child seems to have a viral illness. For fever, you can give Tylenol in prescribed dosage every 8 th hourly depending on the presence of fever. Give plenty of oral fluids and soft diet. If you are doubt about the ear thermometer, you can cross check the temperature with a conventional mercury thermometer. If the fever is not coming down within 24 to 48 hours , consult your Pediatrician for the examination to look for any focus of infection and for basic evaluation. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
