Hello
Thank you for placing your query with Health Care Magic
There can be many things that can present as a swelling over the belly button
1. Commonest is an umbilical hernia. Such swellings usually keep changing in size and especially increase when the child cries or coughs
2. It may be a small lipoma or dermoid cyst. They lie in the superficial layers of the belly and don't cause any other problems
3. A parasitic cyst may be present in this region although it is more commonly seen in the hands and legs
A lymph node in this region is very unlikely
Usually a pediatric surgeon should be able to diagnose all of these on examining your child. Treatment of the first two condition is also surgery and so you should consult a pediatric surgeon and he should help you out
Hope that helped solve your query
God bless you
