Child With Pimple Size White Bumps Allover Body. Are These Molluskum?

My 11 month baby has pimple size white bumps on her lower back and on her tummy. A couple of them on her head. Visited a dermatologist close to home and she says its Molluskum. What is the best treatment other than a surgical procedure, which we are against it. Read about beetle juice treatment and other methods online. Appreciate your answer.

Hi, thanks for posumting your query

molluscum is a self limiting disorder . may last for 6 months to 1year , if untreated, but sometimes even longer

For your infant following can be done in a clinical setting:

chemical cauterisation with TCA or phenol

Application of salicylic and lactic acid lotion

Imiquimod cream (increases immunity against the causitive virus)

Oral cimetidine can be given

Since it is self limiting , leave it as such but if you are keen enough you may get the above for your baby by a doctor

Hope this helps you

General & Family Physician Dr. Luchuo Engelbert Bain's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,
It sound like molluscum Cantagiosum, but the management is really not surgical per say. I suggest you get the opinion of a general pediatrician and an infectiologist for an appropriate decision to be taken.
Thanks and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
