If age is less than 3 months should be observed carefully as they are more prone for complications of whooping cough.
You continue the medication as advised by your doctor for 7 days.
The response to antibiotic is slow and usually it is given to prevent the spread of infection and secondarily for possible clinical benefit for the child.
Observe for the severity of cough episodes, weight, nutrition, and any danger signs like severe episodes of cough, bluish discoloration of hands and feet, decreased activity and consult immediately for medical attention.
Regular follow up at short intervals is required to assess the severity of cough episodes.
