Child's Ear Looks Raw, Sore, Oozing Pus, Crusty On The Out, Had Used Peroxide The Previous Night. What Could This Be?

My 2 year old daughter s ear is raw from inside out it looks like a sore and it s getting bigger it has pus also. when I look down in her ear i see thick white stuff.Last night I put a little peroxide in her ear trying to dry the sore and the white stuff begin coming up. Today its the same thing now the outside of her ear is crusty. What could this be? Does she need to go to the er?

Hello Shayla,

Your daughter is suffering from acute suppurative otitis media. The discharge from the ear is on account of that. I will suggest you to visit an ENT Specialist and get her examined. The white crusts that you can see is the purulent discharge coming out. You need not worry. Your daughter needs some antibiotics and ear drops. It may be due to weather change. She will be fine.

Till she is under treatment and not fit, restrict her from swimming, it may affect her ears. Neglect may cause the problem to get chronic. It is good to know that she is not having pain or fever. Have a good day. Take care.
