Cluster Of Lumps On The Thighs And Hands Of A 4 Year Old. Itching And Redness Present. Foot And Mouth Disease Diagnosed With Fever. Treatment?
My 4 year old son started developing pin prick sized cluster of bumps clustered together. they are skin colr but changes to red when he scratches and they are very itchy, thre are several such clusters on both his thighs and some on his hands. nothing on his chest or back. after two weeks of their appearence, bigger bumps appeared over them and he developed fever and was diagnosed with hand foot mouth. bigger bumps started drying out in a week and started peeling and now again tiny pin prick sized cluster of bumps started appearing again on his thighs and hands. They are similar to before skin colored, very itchy and turns red when he scraches. Is this another episode of HFMD or this is different?
Hi,
Thank you for your query. Hand foot mouth is a benign disease consisting of chicken pox like lesions all over the body including palms and soles distinguising it from chicken pox which usually spares the palms and sole. The lesions last about a week or two and dissapears without scarring. It usually need a calamine moisturiser and an anti allergic. But recurrence or persistence of lesions are not common. Therefore you must consult a dermatologist.
hope this answers your query.Bye
