Cold, Green Nasal Discharge, Sore Throat, Mucus In Cough. Taking Sumo Cold, Moxikind. Correct Treatment?
Hi I have a bad cold . My snot has turned green, my nostrils are blocked. I can t breath. my throat is sore. I also have mucus in my cough. A doctor prescribed Moxikind Cv 625 and Tab Sumo cold. I just wanted to take a second opinion on the prescription since I know moxikind deals with lab pain, should it also be used for a cold sinus infection?
Hi welcome to healthcare magic, I am sorry that you feel unwell
The active ingredient in moxikind is amoxicillin which is an antibiotic that is commonly used for bacterial upper respiratory tract infections and would be appropriate if the doctor thought that there was a bacterial component to your infection.
Green nasal discharge does not necessarily mean that there is a bacterial infection because in the common cold the mucus can also turn green when it is just a viral infection.

I believe your doctor has prescribed you the right medication. However, just medicines will not be enough to get rid of the infection.
I would advise you to do steam inhalation 4-5 times a day.
Drink plenty of warm fluids throughout the day.
Have a teaspoon of honey mixed with a pinch of pepper powder. It might provide some relief.
Hope this helps.
