Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding common cold followed by loss of hearing and pain and ultimately blood stained discharge from left ear.

Here I would like to tell you that most probably you are suffering from upper respiratory tract infection with acute otitis media.

The pathophysiology of the disease process is as-

Your nasal infection of cold had reach up to throat by post nasal drip and from throat it had involve your left ear via eustachian tube (tubular connection between ear and throat) in this way first you felt heaviness in your ear followed by loss of hearing and severe pain, Later on the collected fluid i middle ear had put pressure on ear drum and which result in perforation in ear drum and blood mixed discharge.

you are advice for-

1- C.T. Scan paranasal sinuses.

2- Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.

3- Blood- CBC, ESR blood sugar (F & PP).

Beside this thorough ENT examination is necessary, till you are waiting for specialist you may take-

1- Antibiotic (broad spectrum).

2- Tab Paracetamol.

3- Anti histaminic.

4- Steam inhalation.

5- Keep ear clean and dry and DON'T put any ear drop.

I hope this will help you.

Regards.
