My mother was detected with stage 4 colon cancer with mets in the liver . She has be operated twice (second time unsucessfully as they found ascitis. She has had various cycles of Chemo and has lots tons of weight. She is now complaining of severe stomach ache and back pain. The doctor says the disease has progressed and now wants to try another line of drugs. What is the survival chances and whatcan I expect to happen now?
Hello
Sorry to learn about the condition of your mother. But the fact is nothing much can be done now as the cancer is in stage 4 along with metastasis.
Whatever treatment is to be given is symptomatic only.
There is mo curative treatment which can be given to her.
Survival chances are very bad although exact time frame can not be predicted as it depends not only on stage of cancer but also the physical and mental make up of the person.
Best of luck to you.
Thanks
