Colonoscopy Done. Given Oxygen Through Tubes In Nose. Nasal Passage And Eye Started Burning And Watering. What To Do?
I had a colonoscopy today and am told I was given oxygen through tubes in my nose because my heart rate went too low. All day long my left nasal passage, sinus , and eyes have been burning, watering, and I have been sneezing as if I have a severe cold. I am miserable! The inside of my left nasal cavity is bright red and so irritated! What can I do?
Hello. Welcome to hcm.
While doing colonoscopy, some times vagus nerve might get stilulated which can cause sudden decrease in heart rate. Then we normally monitor the patient till the patient is asymptomatic. So your doctor gave u oxygen so that your heart wil not suffer from low oxygen but here, you are getting irritation of nose and throat due to oxygen, which is common for some patients.
So if you dont have any symptoms and heart rate is normal, you can remove the oxygen n drink lots of fluid. Slowly,in a day or two,you wil be fine. No need for antibiotics.
All the best
