Concussions, Migraines, Short Tempered, Irritability. On Vitamin Packs. Is That Normal?
My son will be 23 yrs. old next month. He has had 5 concussions. One was real bad. We would talk to him & he couldn't even acknowledge us. He recovered but had more concussions after playing football. He has migraines & he has a very short temper. My question is, Can his irritability, short temper, & migraines be an after affect from all those concussions? He has also had trouble concentrating. He has been on vitamin packs & says it helps with his concentration but he is still short tempered. We are very worried about him & need some answers. He doesn't want to get checked.
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
Yes, all the symptoms he have may be due to his recurrent concussions.
He may have neurological problems due to shearing force on nerve during concussion injury.
Symptoms ranging from repeated headache to seizure disorder is possible in these concussion injuries. It is difficult to detect the injury in MRI scan or other investigations.
Symptoms may decrease over time. My advise is to give good family support and psychiatric counselling for him.
Hope this helps. Please reply for further queries. Wishing him good health.
