Constant Coughing, Shortness Of Breath, Prescribed Albuterol. Still Not Recovering. What To Do ?

Been coughing for more than 2 weeks now, although the ciughing is a lot easier/better than when it started. Went to the doctor on Day 11 of the cough. She gave me prescription for albuterol because I also have shortness of breath and the coughing gets worse before bedtime. Atthe beginning I would cough up green mucus. But a couple days befpre I saw the doctor, no more green, just clear sticky mucus. I notice I get a coughing fit when I'm directly under the air vent at home when the airconditioner is running, I immediately did the 2 puffs of albuterol and the coughing stopped right away. And just today at work, my coworker was wiping a table with 409, I started coughing, but didn't think I need the albuterol so I did not take it and was fine and I'm still coughing a little bit. This is the first time I was prescribed an inhaler and didn't like the weakness and tremors side effects, so I thought I'd only use it when I really can't breathe from coughing. Doctor also gave me prescription for z-pack but said should only fill it when I think I'm not getting well. Any other insights would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Albuterol should be taken only when there is breathlessness and not routinely as it is a bronchodilator for short period. You take it when necessary and not every day. Since you have this symptoms only since 2 weeks this will be enough with an anti inflamatory drug. If your parents or you have any allergy history then get done one spirometry to diagnose if you are asthmatic, then can start inhalational steroid. Cough, initially green colour sputum and then mucoid, especially under AC vents suggest infection. You can take Azithromycin 500mg tab once daily for 3 days if there is infection. Consult your doctor for examination and management.
Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

HI
As your coughing is less than it was before, do continue your doctors prescription.
Have your airconditioner serviced as that could be the root cause of your problem.
