Constant Nausea. Not Pregnant. CT Scan Scheduled. Other Reasons?
I have been experiencing constant nausea . My doctor sent me for an egd which was normal. However, the doctor who performed the edg wants me to have a ct scan and a two week follow up with him. Is is normal to have a follow up ct scan after the edg, or should I be concerned? If my edg was normal, what could be some other reasons for my constant nausea (I am definitely NOT pregnant.) I am a 56 year old female.
A ct scan can be done to look at various points of the body such as the head, chest, abdomen, pelvis. With a history of nausea, it is likely that CT suggested may be an abdominal CT.
The EDG would have only given information on the inside of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. Since this was reportedly normal, your doctor may want the CT to see the other structures in the abdomen.
I hope this helps

Constant Nausea. Not Pregnant. CT Scan Scheduled. Other Reasons?
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic EDG stands for esophagogastroduodenoscopy. It looks at the lining of the esophagus, stomach and the duodenum ( the first part of the intestines). A ct scan can be done to look at various points of the body such as the head, chest, abdomen, pelvis. With a history of nausea, it is likely that CT suggested may be an abdominal CT.
