Continued Bleeding For A Month. Had D&C, Hystoscopy. Test Result Shows Proliferative Endometrium Without Atypia. Possible Cancer?
I am 56. Last period December 2011. August 2013 have had bleeding almost continually. Had a D&C & hystoscopy 10/09/2013. Still bleeding. Histology results are Disordered Proliferative endometrium. 6 cc thick. No cancer cell noticed. Simple hyperplasia entometrium without atypia. Could this turn into cancer?? What is my next step please? MANY THANKS.
Endometrial hyperplasia can be considered a precursor to cancer. With simple hyperplasia, as in your case, the risk of progression to cancer is less than 1%. This means that your risk of progression is very low.
It would normally be treated with the use of progestins. There are different progestins that can be used and your doctor will likely discuss them with you to determine which would be right for you.
I hope this helps
