Continuous Bleeding After Depoprovera Shot, Dizziness, Tiredness, Anemia. What Can Be Done?
Hi. Okay, I got the depoprovera shot two months ago, and have had my period nonstop ever since. I have really bad iron deficiency anemia , my iron has recently been at 2 and I ve had a blood transfusion in December. I m also on Iron pills but they don t seem to help.Anyway with this two month period of mine, in the last couple days here the bleeding has gotten really really really heavy. And I feel really dizzy and tired all day. I called my doctor and she is away for a few weeks. So my question is should I just wait for her to come back? Or go to a walk in clinic or hospital? Can they stop the bleeding? And test my blood? Or can they not really do anything anyway? I don t know what to do here sorry. I m 22 with a three year old and 4 month old, and I m really worried so sorry if I m overreacting. Thanks.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. After depo provera shot it is normal to have irregular bleeding for few days and the spotting for almost two - four weeks. This usually subsides on its own. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Rakhi Tayal , drrakhitayal@gmail.com
