Continuous Bleeding After Implant. On Norethisterone To Stop Periods. Use Of Another Form Of Contaceptive During Intake Of Pills Advised?

Hi, I got an implant in April and have had consecutive bleeding since then (period) I am going on holiday next week, so I am taking norethisterone to stop my period. I was just wondering if the tablets will effect the implant ? And if I should use another form of contraception during the time in which I am taking the pill?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

As both implant and norethisterone contain progesterone, they may not be any interaction.
But the possibility of side effects can increase like nausea, vomitings, bloating sensation etc.
No need to any additional method of contraception.
But if the side effects increase you may need symptomatic treatment for that.
After stooping the tablets you may get withdrawal bleeding sometimes.
