Cough With Phlegm And Sinus Fluid, Sore Throat, Headache. History Of Pneumonia. Suggestions?

I have a very loose cough with lots of phlem and sinus fluid. Mild sore throat and headache. It has been very humid here for the last month or so. Can the humidity enter the lungs and cause the cough. I have not been diagnosed with asthma or any lung disease. I have had pneumonia before and looking back it was summer with high humidity.

Hi Delent, thank you for your question and welcome to HCM! Yes, you are correct. Asthma attacks can be triggered by many things including tobacco smoke, dust mites, viral infections, air pollution, animal dander and even exercise, pollen (especially during summer), cold air, and high humidity. Your symptoms, however, can be caused by several conditions. Allergic rhinitis (especially if you sneeze/get colds a lot when you get exposed to certain allergens), an upper respiratory tract infection (viral or bacterial), and asthma are the most common ones. I would suggest that you consult a physician so that he/she can run the appropriate tests. In the meantime, drink plenty of fluids and eat fruits rich in vitamin C and always practice good hygiene! Take care!
