Could Adderall Cause A Flare Up Of Right Sided Abdominal Pain While Having A History Of PCOS And ADHD?

Hi! I have a history of getting ovarian cysts. I also have adhd. I stopped taking my adhd meds due to stomach issues from it. I was on and off of it for 3 years. I recently started taking it again, and I’m realizing that my localized ab pain on my right side is flaring up. I am also slightly having ruptured cyst symptoms. I was curious if adderall can cause a flare up? I feel like this has happened a few times. Thank you.

Hi,

Adderall is unlikely to cause a flare up of an ovarian cyst. More likely just a coincidence. PCOS and ADHD are unrelated diagnoses. The PCOS is the likely reason for cysts, big the medication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jessie Lamberty, General & Family Physician
