What Causes Right Sided Abdominal Pain?

Hi - I currently have an abdominal pain on the right side, feels to be both in front and back. At first I had just sharp pain of 2/3 seconds 3 days ago multiple times in one day, then following day I had maybe strong pain for a few good minutes and since yesterday I have a constant pain - I tried to see my dr but she didnt have time but sent me to emergency if the pain gets stronger? Should I indeed visit the ER?

Hi dear,

Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic.

The symptoms you mentioned be a sign of Choledocholithiasis (gallstones) or pancreatitis. However, most probably gallstones.

The best thing you should do is to visit ER. They will do the right test to find out the cause of your complaint.
They will do blood tests which will check your CBC, Liver function tests, and pancreatic enzymes etc.
they might also do Abdominal ultrasound and ERCP .

If you see that your skin is getting pale or yellowish in color or such as having yellow eyes that could be a sign of jaundice which could indicate worsening of your condition so you should visit ER immediately.

Hope you get better soon.

Wish you all the best
