Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello there. I have been suffering from constipation for quite some time now. I have been eating a lot of high fiber foods, but not much relief from constipation. I have been taking cilazapril too for my high blood pressure. I'm just thinking if cilazapril is causing my constipation.
As per your complain Cilazapril is an ACE (ANGIOTENSIN CONVERTING ENZYME) INHIBITOR and is used in case of hypertension to reduce the blood pressure and in case of Congestive Heart Failure patients..
Cilazapril is commonly well tolerated by the patients but in a few patients it can cause some side effects common ones are like nausea , dizziness, and digestive problems..
I would suggest you to consult your doctor and explain him the entire symptoms and you can get a change of medicine ..
Once the medicine is changed you can follow the treatment to relieve the constipation like taking stool softeners, luxatives and high fibre food along with mild exercises can be helpful..
Hope your query is solved..
