General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
The cramping can definitely be from the metronidazole. It often causes stomach cramping. The odor is probably from the bacterial vaginosis and should resolve within several days after completing the antibiotics. If the odor persists you need to see your doctor again for pelvic exam and testing to determine the cause. If you did not complete the course of flagyl you can call your doctor and ask for a vaginal gel to treat the bacterial vaginosis since it will have less side effects
