Could HCG Diet Have Raised My Liver Enzyme Levels?
I was on the Hcg diet 2 mo's ago for 3 wks. Now I found that my liver enzymes are sky high and there has been found to be no other reason except for possibly this diet. Is this possible? Could I end up with fatty liver disease or liver cancer as a result? I lost the 15 lbs that I needed to due to high cholesterol which I have been treated for for 25yrs with statins.
If you're taking HCG, you're causing a hormonal imbalance, which can most definitely have an affect on your liver enzymes. This doesn't mean that you're going to end up with fatty liver or liver cancer, but it will be important to have your liver enzymes rechecked at some point.
I'd recommend trying to eat healthy, with plenty of fruits and vegetables and restricting red meat, and then having your liver enzymes rechecked, as well as getting an ultrasound of your liver and gallbladder in order to evaluate other causes of elevated liver enzymes.
I hope this answers your questions. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.
