hi Dr. Naija Chawla I took after morning pill after having unprotected sexual intercourse at 6th July 2015 the next day i started fill pelvic pain which lasted for two days. at 12 July 2015 i saw brown discharge on my underwear and today 13th july 2015 i see drops of blood in my underwear am worried about this sign am i pregnant or not. the first day of my last period was 20th of june 2015.
Hello, I really appreciate your concern. Pelvic pain and spotting are very common side effects of taking morning after pill or emergency contraceptive pills. So there is nothing to worry about it. From these signs one cannot conclude whether you are pregnant or not. Emergency contraceptive pills prevent around 85% of the pregnancy. Lesser the interval between sexual intercourse and pill ingestion, lesser the chances of pregnancy. So I advise you to wait for your period to begin. Fear of pregnancy and stress can lead to delayed periods. So avoid stress. If periods are delayed then rule out pregnancy by using urinary pregnancy kit available at pharmacy. Hope my answer has solved your query. Take Care. Thank you.
