Could Janumet Or Atorvastatin Cause Blurry Vision?
Hello....My husband was recently diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. Since he was discharged from the hospital he has had blurry vision. His sugar is slowly going down to a normal level. He has started taking Janumet and also astorvastatin. He has had bad reactions from statins in the past. Could the statin be causing his blurry vision? He won't be able to see a doctor for another week or so.
Hello, welcome to HCM. I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query. Statins have not documented to cause blurry vision , but they may cause myositis and myopathy which may cause blurring of vision, but that is in very late stage. Janumet also does not cause blurring of vision in clinical trials, so it should have been a momentary period of hypoglycemia , caused by release of janumet at the same time low intake of meals. This is a strong possibility. Make sure your husband understand this as a symptom to take fast absorbing sugar like glucose or a glucose biscuit.REMEMBER it may not be hypoglycemia but little biscuit will do less harm than hypoglycemia. Do tell your doctor in next visit about this episode. Good luck.
